Quote Of The Day

Don't let fear take over your life and stop you from doing what you always dreamed of it.
If you are not purposely hurting anyone then there is no reason to fear what might happen because if you don't take a chance you may never have another chance in your lifetime, plus unfortunately they haven't made time travel commercial yet😁

Top 10: Queen Songs

To honoring Freddie Mercury, the anniversary of his death was november 24 and from those that never heard of this name, he was the front lead singer in this british Rock band called Queen.
They are one of the best rock band of all time and one of the best selling band too, they only fall behind the beatles in the UK.
Choosing only ten songs from them is not easy but here are my choices which may differ from your opinions...

  1. Bohemian Rhapsody from the album A Night At The Opera, 1975
  2. Somebody To Love from the album A Day At Races, 1976
  3. Don't Stop Me Now from the album Jazz, 1978

December X-special

December is my favorite month of the year not just because of Christmas but also is my birthday month.
So I was born in December 31 the very last day of the year, which meant receiving only one gift during this holiday season. Every year since I was a teenager, my friends wouldn't come to my B-day because it was new year's eve and they had better parties to go than mine which it was their defense arguments but I never hold it against them. Only family members would come to my birthday and by the way I don't think they had much of a choice.
Now everything changed since I moved to another continent, I don't celebrate much my birthday even though I did come with my brother we don't celebrate my bday together.

My first bday in Lisbon I was sharing a house with four girls and two of them went spending the new year's eve with their friends and the other two girls stayed home with me because we were broke, had no money not even to buy a cake or champagne... So almost to midnight and the front door neighbors knocks at our door and call us to make a toast and eat cake with them which I thought was very kind and generous of them, and when my friends and I thought our lucy changed others mysterious forces in this scenario I will call it Destiny didn't think so, when me and the girls were leaving the house in such hurry to go celebrate new year's eve at our neighbor's house, we forgot to take the keys off inside the door and let the door close. It was the only key with had with us and the other two girls that weren't home had another two keys but they refused to shortened their celebratory night just because of our misfortune so anyways we didn't let that be a buzz kill and went to ours neighbors house where we ate a lot of chocolate cake and drink champagne and one of my friends notice that the kitchen windows of our house was open and it was very close to the window of ours neighbors but none of us had the guts to jump from one window to another because we're at a second floor building it was a bit high for us, so we called a guy friend of ours who happened to be a soccer player but this information in not relevant to the story. The destiny smiled again and this friend happened to be near the neighborhood and came help us... It took a lot of begging and maybe a bribe but eventually he did jumped from windows and opened the door for us making my first birthday a roller coaster of emotions... Starting the day sad and depressed because we had no money to do anything at all to happy because a neighbor was very kind with us to sad again because we locked ourselves out of the house to happy again because I realised that had really great friends.

Moral of the story is with thru friends you don't need much to have fun and enjoy every little moment together plus before getting out of the house make sure you have your keys in your HANDS.

The following year I spend at home and this time alone with a bottle of champagne and watching TV, it wasn't that bad I so fireworks from my bedroom window.

And the year next that I spend in a subway station with strangers waiting for the subway to come because I didn't knew that close to 11pm in new year's eve the subway takes longer to get in between station and that it gets very crowded inside the subway that you can't even breathe or move at all so I didn't want to enter and I prefered to wait for the next one but as soon it went I so the waiting time at the monitors and the next was only coming at 00:30am, the very next day...
I am not a superstitious person but I should have seen the sign when I was trying to get out of the house and saw a black cat was at the door blocking me from leaving the building which for me was creepy because I don't like cats at all but that didn't stop me, oh no I went out anyway because I was so determined to have a good birthday this year... So back to the story where I left off... I couldn't get out of the station because well first it was freezing like hell outside and there were no taxis or buses and I couldn't go home walking because my house was extremely far away from where I was and couldn't get there without transport. It was kind of ironic because I was in the subway station because I was going to see one of the two girls that spend my first bday in Lisbon with me. We planned to go see the fireworks at downtown Lisbon together but unfortunately I didn't get there in time and so I went home with another failed bday and It didn't stopped there the bad luck. My brother made sure I wouldn't never forget that day because I had to leave the house in a 4 degree celsius extremely cold weather at dawn because he got alcohol poisoning at the party he went thit his girlfriend. We spend the day at ER because he was unconscious and scared the hell out of me but after a couple hours in serum he recovered just fine. I knew he drank a lot but I didn't knew it was that much, so I guess new year's eve parties is where people drink until there is no more last year{it's a inside joke}.

Moral of the story is when planning to go somewhere during new year's eve make sure you know the night schedule of every transport you are going to use or at least have more than one way to get there. Plus just because is the last day of the year doesn't mean you have to drink until you die, it's just an expression you don't have to actually do it nobody is challenging you so drink but with moderation, you don't want your loved ones first day of the year becoming a funeral.

After this disastrous bday, the following year which was last year I went on a december vacation with my brother back to our country, back to Angola to visit our family.
So this actually was good birthday, a couple of family members and some friends came too and I enjoyed very much, it was fun. It made me realised that {I don't know which "forces" are to toying with me} I only have a good birthday if is with my family or else everything that can possible go wrong with my day it will go wrong.

Well moral of the story is don't ditch your family in new year's eve, if you can actually see them then go see them.

I want to end this post with a positive quote and also tell you guys even after so many disastrous birthday I still very much wait every year for my Bday because I love so much december and I have so many memories from my childhood to teenage years birthdays that more than enough make up this past fews not so good ones.

Quote Of The Day

"Don't take life too serious, you'll never escape it alive anyways"  -  Elbert Hubbard

Personal Library

When my first year at college started I decided to create my own little library and is very diverse with  books ranging from old fashion classics to new sci-fi/drama. So every time that I pass through a bookstore just can't resist buy a new book. I bought an entire collection of books by Jules Vernes after reading Around The World In 80 Days.

I have read some books and then watched the movies after and I've to say that it's not the same thing because so many things gets left out and it can be disappointing so my advice to you would be to read more, increases intelligence, reduce stress, expand your knowledge and vocabulary, improve your memory and also better writing skills plus it can boost your brain power according to research published in Neurology.
Reading makes you travel around the world, space, galaxy, universe and time, without having to move. So challenge yourself if you're not a typical reader and make a habit to read a book once a week or at least once a month. Every month start reading a new book, you'll going to see that it will make you feel so good.
May your shelves always overflow with books.

Self-struggle

This is me trying to get out of bed or just trying to do any chores when I'm feeling too lazy

Quote Of The Day

"One thing is thinking that you're in the right path and another is for you to think that yours is the only path. We shouldn't judge others people life because only oneself knows is own pain and struggle."    - Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist

The Alchemist is a wonderful book from the amazing brazilian writer Paulo Coelho.
I won't write a review about the book because I don't want to spoil for anyone who hasn't read yet but I read recently and  just loved so much.
It is a story about spiritual search of oneself something that apparently I am going through right now and it's an eye opener. It's definitely a must read to everyone especially those questioning their place in the world.
Also I recommend you guys to read other books from Paulo Coelho because he is such a gifted writer that knows how to touch your soul.
I loan my book the alchemist to my mother to read and then she gave to a cousin of mine that hasn't returned the book yet so I told my mom if she get's the book back it will be hers.

My favorite quote from the book is:
"Quando você quer alguma coisa, todo o universo conspira para que voce realize o seu desejo."

"When you really want something, the whole universe conspire for you to accomplish your wish."

A little a bout me

Hello everybody, you can call me Francis which is shortage for Francisca.
I was born in Angola which is a country located in Africa and just for the people that still don't know, Africa is a continent and NOT a country.
I grew up with my parents, big brother and my little sister. I lived in Luanda which is a capital city of Angola, with my family until I was 16 years old and then moved to Houston-Texas in the United States of America because of my father job's transfer. It was a big change of scenario from a third world country to the famous American Dream and it was amazing like a kind of once in a life experience. I finished high school there, even though we only lived there for two years it felt like a lifetime.
After high school, my father job mission was over so my family and I went back to Angola and in the same year I applied to an university in Lisbon and went to Law school. Since then it has been 3 years that I've been living in Portugal with my brother that also came to
study here with me.
So this is the most resumed story of my life, if anyone wants to ask me anything personal or exchange life experiences just email me; dareit.tobe@gmail.com
I also speak portuguese and spanish if anyone doesn't want to talk in english.

DARE IT TO BE yourself because trying to be someone you're not is just a waste of energy physically and/or mentally.
